Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is an autonomous body established under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. The FSSAI has been established under the Food Safety, Standards Act, 2006, which is a consolidating statute, related to food safety, and regulation in India. FSSAI is responsible for protecting and promoting public health through the regulation and supervision of food safety.
Generally, Food Business Operator (FBO) who are manufacturers, importers, exporters dealing in food business need to obtain FSSAI registration from central government and FBO with small to medium sized manufacturing units, transporters, marketers, traders, packers, re-packers etc., need to take FSSAI registration from the state government.
The types are enlisted below:
• Central License (Large Food Business).
• State License (Medium Food Business).
• Registration (Petty Food Business).
Total time for FSSAI License will be approx. 1 working day for Registration license and 7 working days for State license and Central license.
FSSAI Registration is a basic license and it is required for all the FBO involved in the small-scale food business. This category covers the following business.
